Default N/A 5.9 Performance??

I have a 98 2wd r/t 5.9 and I can't seem to find too much in the way of non forced induction go fast parts. Mayhap I'm just looking in the wrong places. Suggestions?? I was thinking a simple bore and stroke. I can rework the heads no problem. Don't know if new ones would be neccesary. Does anyone make a tuned port injection system for these motors?? I can fabricate the manifold and rails if I could just find the electronics for that type of setup.

Thanks for the help,
MRFN Hartley

welcome to df...

dont waste a penny on the stock heads, they are junk... go to http://www.hughesengines.com and look at the R/T or the Heavy Duty heads as a replacement. If your really motivated, you can build a 408 stroker motor, http://www.krcperformance.com/newcontent/home.html is a good source for parts for it.

if your looking for short term power while you build up a 408, one suggestion would be roller rockers... you can get either 1.6's for use with a cam or 1.7's for stock or r/t cam. that way when your 408 is done, you can re-use the rockers on the 408.

other recommendations would be 52mm Fastman Throttle body, good set of headers and a CAI (I prefer K&N).

Thank you very much steve. Hughes engines was the exact sort of thing I was looking for.
I didn't even know they made a mopar 408 kit. Its funny because thats the type of kit I'm going to run on the 351w if I ever get the thing built.

You must be looking in the wrong places.
There's TONS of stuff out there.
Cams, heads, intake, exhaust, the stroker... and don't forget to upgrade the computer to make it all work together.

I've been searching myself, and those heavy duty heads look like they might be very good for the money. No personal experience with them, though.

So... 'ya gonna get the 408?

Well the 408 sounds sweet and it doesn't seem like it'd cost too terrible much to build a decent one up.
However I'm beginning to wonder if I might not be better off selling my 2wd and finding a 4wd to build. The more I look at whats out there it seems a little silly to drop excess amounts of cash into the truck. I need to put some serious thought into it before I do anything silly. I think I'll come up with a total price list for the whole project and go from there.

I really appreciate the links you provided though.

Do alot of serious 4wd guys use this site? If I do decide to go that route I'm definetly finding a wrecked 2500 w/ a cummins to turn into a semi-buggy.
