got an 02 ram with the comp in the overhead console. I poked one of the map lights too hard and now I need to pull the whole console down to fix it, but I don't know how it comes off.

 

Did the same thing. I have an 00 and what I had to do was open the sunglasses holder and locate the two clips inside. Using both hands, push those in and pull down the back of the console an inch or two. Then pull the entire assembly straight back. Perhaps its the same for your 02.
