I would like to put in an overhead console with the outside temperature display and mileage etc. I currently have a 99 ram 2500 sport 5.9. My overhead only has the lights in it now. Is this possible or worth the price? Is the wiring there for it? Do I need to purchase other componets to go with the console other than the console with the display??? Thanks!

I read this post and the link to the other one...Neither one seemed to address whether the existing wiring harness that is installed for the basic overhead console (lights, sunglass case, garage door opener only) is the same as the one with the computer (compass, mileage, etc).

IfI wanted to upgrade to the compass/mileage computer inmy console do I need to purchase a new wiring harness? From looking at a 2001 truck manual it seems that the wiring is the same unless you have the VTSS as well.

What about the temp sensor? I'm guessing that I don't have the sensoror the associated wiring and would need to install both. FYI I'm deployed to Iraq right now and can't check under my hood! Thanks for the help.
