Default Clogged Cat

alright, I know a clogged cat messes up your valves, how do you tell for sure it is clogged. And if it is, where do you get a new one, I think mines a little bad b/c my gas milage is worse andwhen I rev it, it takes a little longer for it to fall back down (the rpms) I am either thinkin of doing a o2 sim and a cat delete or just buying a magnaflow one...you guys lemme know, thanks

For the replacement cat, go to summit. The magnaflow is like 160 plus shipping, not bad at all for what you are getting. If it is really bad you can crawl under the truck after driving for a while and the cat might be glowing red. Another way is to get an infared thermometer and check the exhaust pipe before and after the cat, if the temp isnt hotter after the cat compared to the front of the cat, you know it is bad.

I have the same problem. I have 96 Ram and I need new exhaust. As you guys know, the o2 sensor is after the cat, but i have a hole between the cat and the o2 sensor. How hard is it to do a sim o2 like he was talking about, and how pricey is it?

I've seen the o2 sims for about $100 bux, way over priced if you ask me. I did a search along time ago and found a site that told you how you can make one. parts were under $10 bux IIRC. I would leave a cat in place just for the amount of backpressure they provide, helps with low end torque.

making a sim is cheep. another option is to punch a couple of holes thru it to allow it to flow better.
