Default Rearend leaking

Ok Dodge people,

I have a question for you My rear dif. is leaking fom the front where the driveshaft goes. I was wondering how difficult it is to change this seal. And if someone could give me an idea how to fix it. The dif is a corporate not Dana. Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

If the corporate design is similar to the Dana, I have to say I think it's pretty easy to fix.

Like jakebrake said, air tools. But it can be done with an electric impact, and a pitman arm puller as well.

Buy this seal wrench here to remove the seal, and I use an appropriately sized socket to pound the new seal in evenly. Mark the drive shaft with a white line, or punch marks, drop, and go to work. You can mark the position of the yoke as well. paint the spline with anti-sieze when you put the yoke back on.

It an easy job. It's also a good time to make sure the yoke straps aren't stretched out.

Good luck.....here's the seal puller. Was like 12 bucks.

always use new ujoint straps. And in this instance, locktite is your friend. You don't want anything coming apart on ya later.

First check the vent on the axle housing. It is a rubber hose that is attached to the frame and the axle housing. Very often that hose will get dirt in it. This causes the pressure to build in the axle (as the oil heats up) and this pressure will cause gear oil to be pushed out the pinion seal. Good luck.
