Default cam position sensor

Hello I need some help. I have a 1999 dodge ram 5.9L 4wd. And every now and then it wont start like it aint getting no fire. But if I keep trying it will usually fire up. And the check engine light comes on. I reset the computer the light goes off and the truck is uslally good for about a week. I used my friends scaner the other day. And it came up cam position sensor. I called the local parts store and they dint have one list for dodge. Is this my problem???

The Cam position sensor is under the distibutor cap on V-6 and V-8 engines. If it helps here's an image of it.

Easy fix but just never heard of one going bad. Any other codes along with that one?

it is a hall effect sensor, just like the rear diff sensor and the crank sensor.

you could have a pinched wire, yank your distributor cap and pull it out and take look...
