Default Running Sluggish - Just an FYI

My dad has a 1995(?) Chrysler minivan with the 6-cylinder engine. Since he's a retired automotive engineer, he knows the ins and outs of a car (he was born in 1923). Anyway, the engine in the van used to be running on 5-cylinders and he had a connection at a local boneyeard install a "new" enging (60K miles) into the van. The van was running like a top for a while and then started to run a bit sluggish. This persisted to the point where the van couldn't even crawl. So, he has Mr. Boneyard pick up the van and take it to the shop. They hook up the diagnostic tool to the van and learn that the temperature sensor is defective. How badly? Well, the sensor was telling the computer that the engine was at MINUS 312ยบ. That thing was dumping so much gas into the combustions chambers it was all the engine could do to stay alive.

Might file this away for future reference!
