I just installed a set of Dee Zee Nerf Bars a couple of weeks ago and they look pretty good. I picked them up at Farm & Fleet for about $190 for the black finished ones. Bolt on installation.
Summit, Ebay(just check their feedback). I have a set on mine with a 3" body lift.

nerf bars all the way. running boards look like things that come on bowties... nobody wants that on a dodge... can't stand that flimsy plastic thing that chevy calls a running board they put on the suburbans, trucks, and everything else they can.
Ive got Dee-Zee Nerfs on mine. They look 10 times better than running boards. I had running boards on my 4 letter word (furd) and hated them.

had an old ramcharger years ago that had running boards on it when i bought it, they were aluminum diamond plate style, didn't take too long before they were tore up and tore off. have nerf bars on my ram now, they were on the truck when i got it so i don't know what brand they are but they have survived a few meetings with rocks and still look good. looks like they are a direct bolt on to the frame
Since you are from Denver Colorado I would highly advise the nerf bars and not running boards. Too much snow will accumulate on the running boards and turn to ice. I live in Monnesota and my old 2WD had running boards. every winter I had to work to get the ice off the boards so I could use them. I've had nerf bars on my last two trucks and I'll never go back to running boards.
Just be sure to spend as much as you can afford. You buy cheap and the paint will start peeling and rust will start growing before the first winter is over.

I'm the opposite of the rest. I went with the full running boards and I kinda like em. If I didn't have these and I was to choose on something now though, those new ones that pop out from under the truck when you open the door are bad azz !!
Here's my set up ...
