Default Not sure if this in the right thread

Hey just thought I would ask you guys a question. I have been wanting to put a winch on my truck but didn't really want one sticking out the front and wanted one I could use for rear as well. I have thought about the hitch mounting plates but that just makes the winch stick out to far. So my dad had this thought. He said that tow trucks used to have winches that had two cables. One that ran to front and one to the rear. He said it was two cables with one motor. I had never heard of anything like that. He used to drive a tow truck in southern iowa and it had one like this i guess. He, in all his vast mechanical knowledge, does not remember the correct name for this type of winch. Does anyone here know what they are called (he said dual action is what he called it, but that ain't right) or who I need to talk to or where I can find one? Please help!

I don't think there is enough room under the rams for that. It would be easier to get the reciever mount one. Try looking up some of the tow truck body manufactures though and see what they say.
