body mounts ...clunk in steering wheel
people are telling me that the clunk noise in my front end could be my body mounts. driving down a bumpy road/over manhole covers/over cracks in the road/ect. there is a major clunk that sounds like its comming from the passangers side front end somewhere. you can also feel it under your feet in the floor. im hearing control arms and body mounts. i didnt know body mounts could do that. can they make a clunk that would hear/feel under your feet? could it be the control arms. i have a 95 1500 4X4. basically everything in my front end is new (i started replaing stuff around april/may) except for the body mounts and control arms. ball joints, tie rods, trac bar, shocks/struts, sway bar endlinks and bushings, steering stabilizer, wheel bearings, everything to do with brakes except the lines. so i dont know what this noise could be. anyone have any input??
**also** ive had a clunk in my steering wheel when you stop or take off sometimes. you can feel it and hear it in the steering wheel. ive read on here that it was a recall in the steering column. so i called up a dealership around here and i explained the problem to them and gave them my vin # and they checked and said no recalls. so i brough it back to my friend mark who has helped me out alot lately. he said the intermediate shaft (between the steering column and the steering box) has a "slide joint" in it so when you hit the brakes or hit the gas its not a stiff joint because the body will move different from the frame. anyways this "slide joint" on my truck is rusted solid. my mechanic mark says this is the clunk in the steering wheel. so $140 later hes replacing it and i will have the truck back tomorrow and ill let you all know if this fixed the problem.
...sorry i suck at writing and im unorganized and long winded. you guys must get so annoyed when reading my posts (those who actually read them and dont see crazykidjj87 and say welp noone likes this kid so im not reading his post) this is a non-formal website with a buncha of guys talking about trucks to eachother. just imagine the essays i write for college...how *****y they are

While you were at it, you should have looked at the borgeson steering shaft replacement, instead of the crappy OEM one. Its a bit more money to get it, but well worth it. It makes the steering way more precise, and solid feeling. I had a clunk feeling in the steering wheel also a while back, and this shaft definatly improved it.
