speed sensor

Default speed sensor

hi all please someone tell me how to put a new speed sensor on the transmission is it hard to do ? my truck sometimes stays in first gear till i play with the gear shifter .i look at the forums i seen some of you hade this problem and the speed sensor helped..please put a pic on where it is or a website where i can go thanks......

On my 99 it is on the tailshaft of the tranny. It looks like a big nut with a wire running into the middle of it. I can't remember for sure what size it is though. You probably wont need a pic, it is the only thing like it on the tailshaft. If you aren't changing your fluid be ready with the new sensor as soon as you take the old one out. I didn't lose much fluid but this way you are ready.Good Luck, on a scale of 1-10, 10 being hard it is a .5
