Default Looking for 1500 towing information

I have a 2001 1500 QCSB with the 5.2 and the NV3500...

I am looking for some information regarding the towing capcity of my truck...So far I have the following information, but was hoping that someone can help me fill in the blanks, or point me to where I can find the rest.

GVWR - 6600
Curb - 4529
Payload - 3915

GCWR - ?

Any other numbers I should be looking at?

I have a Quality S Class III hitch rated for 500lb tongue and 5000 GTW.

Any help please.

Your hitch is going to be what keeps you down I think. I think (not sure on the 5.2, but it shouldn't be too much lower than the 5.9) that your tow rating should be in the 7's somewhere. So if your hitch is only rated to 5k then that's what your tow limit is going to be since the truck itself can haul more than the hitch is rated at.

Edit:
Did a little searching through my favorites and found this:

Thanks for the info. I know that the 500/5000 rating is for the class III, but I am looking into a class III-IV which goes up to 750/7500, which will fit the 12,500 GCWR. My door sticker says that my payload is 3915, but that site says it is 1480...I guess, by definition what is payload and what is the actual number for my truck?

Payload should be the amount of weight you can put into the truckbed. IE 1400 lbs is what the MFG says you should haul at the maximum in your bed. IE: the weight rating of your axles minus curb weight of the truck should be your payload if I'm not mistaken.

Now, is the mfg recommendations the end all in what can be done? Not necessarily.
