Default heater smell during cold wet weather???

hey

99 4 x 4 5.2L

i am getting a smell in the air from the air ducts in cold wet weather . once the engine operating temp gets into operating range, and the heat gets hot, the smells goes away. almost like a moldy smell. i have checked the coolant and power steering fluid levels constantly with no apparent leaks.

i also get a smell when using the a/c (in dry weather) at idle. once i start driving again, from a stop, or rev up the rpms the smell goes away.

anyone experience this or have any ideas???
