Default Transmission DIY?

I have the factory service manual and I am trying to remove my auto tranny from my 97 ram 2500 I got to the part where it said to remove the Crankshaft Position Sensor and I could not find it. It said it was on the right side of the engine towards the back hear the head. It's really hard to see in there and I couldn't see it. Would any of you happen to have a link that would have step by step instructions with good pictures? thanks.

I believe it is in the right side of the bellhousing attached with 2 bolts, close to where tranny mounts to engine back

It is on the top end on the right side of the bell housing like has been said. You have to just reach up and feel it. I know that you can take the transmittion out and then remove the CPS if you can't find it. You just have to be really carefull not to knock it around if you do it this way.

here's a pic I took a while back. It's taken from underneath the truck, passenger side. I had enough room to reach around my exhaust to get at it. You can see the transmission dip stick tube there in front of it.

Hope it helps.

one you get the T-case and exhaust out you should easily be able to reach up there and unbolt the 2 1/2" bolts and pull it out. I would just wait until you remove the tranny though. It will make it easier.

I was replacing my clutch and wasn't reading the "directions", so I left it in and broke it while trying to mount the transmittion back up...the one that I replaced it with from Dodge for $100 is a lot better. It has a metal bracket instead of the plastic crap mount that came of the truck.

I found it easier to get to it from the top as I can jump right into the engine bay. The proper size is a 13mm bolt (2 of them), and it is located on the passenger side of the distributor.
