bob5150, I have a 1998 1500 Sport 5.9L 4x4, best truck ever, hands down. well, in my opinion. i have a 3" dick cepeck lift, with 33x12.5x15r procomp AT's. i also just upgraded(today) to procomp es9000's. (not that new, i know) but i have already noticed the difference. besides the 6.7 MPG,(i need to fix my AC so it doesn't run all the time), it is a good work / weekend warrior truck. welcome to Dodge, and you have made an excellent choice.

The overhead compass, thermometer should be in the 99 too, as my 99 sport has it. That is unless a previous owner added it along the ay somewhere.

When ever I get the time to sand down my truck for paint, I think I am wondering what surprises I will find.

Basically from what I have found, the 5.2 is a great motor...I have one, but the biggest problem I have is the stupid gears...3.55 only work on a street queen with stock tires...When I get the money, I'm jumping to 4.56s...That is what is hurting me the most...I'm getting about 12.8 MPG with 285/75s and stock POS 3.55. I know that some would say I should just get 4.10s, but I'm planning on going to 315/75s, plus I tow enough that it would be good to have a little extra umph when I need it.
