Welcome to DF ... to (possibly) quiet a sticking lifter, some guys here swear by a quart (pint?) of MMO in the crankcase. I think that a few even put some in the tank ... maybe quiet a noisy injector?

Yup TMS Bill is right. Probably lifter ticking. Mine did and I put 1/2 a quart in the crank when I changed my oil. The lifters were silent probably 5 seconds after I started it up and haven't made a sound since.

MMO is Marvel Mystery Oil. Can get it at Wal Mart. I put a 1/2 quart in the crank other 1/2 in the gas and got 17.25 mpg highway and I was loaded down with a motorcycle, and tons of other stuff going to school. Some people run awhole quart in the oil.

You also have to be careful with that stuff. Abuddy of mine started using it after about 180k in his 5.2 and killed it at 230k. It cleaned all the buildup off of the inside of the motor and the chunks ended up blocking the pickup. Obvoiusly he had to drive to the nex exit (7Mi) with the low oil lamp on, but it reeeealy does clean out the inside of your engine. About 1/4Lb of semi hard black pieces of gunk in the pan. Nevermind what was stuck in, to, and around the pickup. [:@]
