Default Front Bumper replacement

Good Evening everyone:

Whats involved with replacing the front bumper on a 2000 Ram 1500? I hit a street sign and it pushed the bumper on the right hand side back about 2 to 4 inches. The chrome piece is bent back and the top cover is damaged as well as the valance. How long of a project would this be and what is involved?

Thanks
John

about $500, 2-3 hours, a bunch of 18 mm bolts and nuts, and a can of PB Blaster.

Is your bumper actually bent bad, or just out of adjustment.

Mine was a tad bent, but mostly just all slipped out of adjustment from where prev owner used to pull things with the bumper. i was able to just readjust it. The top cover is held on with some plastic clips. i jb-welded several of my broken clips back together. total cost was the $2-3 for the pb-blaster and $5 for jbweld

Look for posts here and other sites regarding whether to buy expensive oem parts or cheapos. Some people hate hate hate aftermarket parts and others say they are ok. I'm sure this will draw a reply.... If you can find a straight one at a junkyard its probably the best combination of oem and cheap. New, i think a bumper is about $350 and the top cover is about $50 and the valence is probably another $50. not cheap.
