Default Transmission check valve

Hey, I have been looking at some other posts about the tranny check valve and it seems to be the major cause of the tranny failure. I was going to change my fluid and adjust my bands soon and while I was doing that I was going to clean and inspect the check valve. However, I am not sure my 97 has one. From what I understand, it is in the cooling lines going to/from the radiator at the transition to the rubber lines. I checked all the lines and could not find anything that looked like a check valve. Does anyone have a picture of what the valve looks like? Am I looking in the wrong location?

As long as it hasn't been removed you should have a check valve. It is in the lower cooler line on the rad. it is brass colored and just a bit larger than the cooler line. dosen't really look like a valve. It will be attached to the rubber part of the cooler line. If you are concerned with it, bit the bullet and go to the dealer and get the newest part number for your truck.

If you undo the fitting between the "hard line" and the rubber line, the check ball is inside the rubber line part. Just check to see if it moves freely (it takes some pressure to move it due to the spring). If it isn't stuck, leave it in there.
