Default ??? about horn pads

My horn works, but you have to press hard on left side of the center pad to get it to work. (Wife cant press hard enough) Right side pad just doesnt work. Usually the contacts get dirty or smashed down....hence....they wont work. Its a 1998 so horn has gotten a work out (live in Baltimore/DC area). I want to know if I can pull this plastic cover off the airbag to get a look at the pads? Should I just take it to a shop? or should I just rewire the SOB and have a thumb buttons installed?

I agree, ditch the stocker and get an air setup...Trucker style...Make people know that you are there and get the f--- out of the way.
