Default Sport headlights

Hi
I have just bought dual bulb sport headlights for my 99 RAM 2500 that came with the single bulb headlights.
I want to run 4-bulb illumination for the low beams and high beams.
I can modify the bulb sockets so I can fit 4 9004 bulbs in the lights but how do I wire this?
One additional problem is that here in Norway I have to be able to "rebuild" the lights to operate with only 2 low beam bulbs for the annual technical inspection.
I have measured the current in the light bulb sockets and found that the bulbs get earth through the headlight switch and that the earth is through different pins on high beam than on low beam!!!!
Thankful for any advice.

Yikes, sounds like your in for alot of work doing it that way, but it will be cheaper then how most people do it. What I would recomend is to do the Sport Headlight Conversion. The Sport headlights are already wired up for dual bulbs. There is also a herness you buy so you don't have to do to much fancy wiring. Also, if you run 4 bulbs on the factory headlight switch there are a few problems people have encountered.

First, if you notice when you have your high beams on, and pull the lever back to switch to low beams, both high and low beams are on while the lever is pulled back. Some people have modified the switch so that when the high beams are on, the low beams are also on, all the time. The only problem is that the headlight switch is not meant to carry this much current for any extended period of time. People that have done this have had the switch burn up on them and stop working all together. Pain in the butt to fix! You can wire them up with 4 bulbs through the 1 switch but the headlight switch will have its life expectancy be much shorter!

Also since you have to deal with tech inspection your better off doing it the way with the harness and actual Sport headlight because it would pass expection with out haveing to "rebuild" it.

Heres the link to the place that sells both the headlight unit and the harness. People that have done this say they LOVE it.

Thanks Socha, for your informative reply.
I have ordered a wiring kit to do the sport headlight conversion as you suggested.
The main problem with the one-bulb headlights is that the low beams are so weak.
On the 2 bulb headlights the low beams are the "inside" bulbs with small reflectors.
Do this set-up give any better low beams than the single bulb headlights?
Is it possible to have the low beams in the "outside" bulbs? and will this give any better light?

Thanks again

I have a '97 2500 that is in desperate need of some better headlights. This kit sounds like just the ticket. But the link does not work....?

After this, I am going to next figure out how to put fog lights on it. A bit of a challenge with the diesels.

thanx!
