brakes
My original brakes crapped out and I've got a couple grand I'm willing to spend so I'm thinking of upgrading to some nicer than stock brakes and having the rear switched from drum to disc brakes. I've got a 5.9L '01 ram 1500. What's the solution? Thanks.[sm=vader1.gif]
If you install a rear disc conversion, then there are many issues you need to address.
Gut everything and install a live line hydroboost system with front line lock and rear adjustable proportioning valve. Slotted rotors and carbon/metallic pads. Carbon/kevlar pads are too hard a material. Physically wears down a rotor every 3 or 4 sets of pads.
Thats the best brake setup there is. You can feel the brakes thru the pedal. It's the only way to go. Antilock is for women. I can stop quicker locking up all 4 wheels instead of that pulse ****.....lol.
Good luck.
