i hate the underhood insulation, mine came off while i was mudding and got wrapped around my axle somehow. anyway ya i think it would look great im looking for some engine dress up stuff myself. but what your talking about i think would make almost like a mirror finish underneath the hood itself? that would be awsome but a b*tch to keep clean.

"How would it look?"

If you're very talented at this type of work, it would probably look very nice. If you're not, it may look like a hack job. I don't know you, so I can't really say. (definitely not trying to insult you!)

A couple of random thoughts:
It will add a little bit of weight. You may not care, though.
Might be expensive material.
Polished aluminum might be good too. Don't know if it would be more, or less $.
Some show cars use mylar mirror. Might not be the look you want, though.
If you use insulation, use something that won't be affected by water.

Show us some pics if you do it!

Could look real good but .................

............. make sure what you have under the hood is sparkly pretty and clean. The mirror finish is gonna double whatever's under there. Could be double nice or double dirty and ugly. Doesn't have to be chromed/painted/polished but at least extremely clean and well detailed. Otherwise go for a brushed finish, which would still look good. To me aluminum is too susceptible to corrosives to be practical under the hood unless it's protected. SS would be my choice, polished OR brushed, extremely durable. Use a thin gauge and keep the weight and cost issues away.
