plow paint?
I picked up a '96 1500 4x4 w/ plow and the plow really could use painting. This is my 1st plow truck so I am not too sure what kind of paint to use. Any advice is greatly appreciated. That goes for plowing advice too. Thanks
There is rust resistant paint made just for plows...I repainted mine last year but I can't remember the brand name. My buddy used regular paint which I didn't think was a very good idea but he said he will just have to paint more often. Either way... after you finish painting wait a month to give the paint time to cure and wax the plow (or wait as long as you can considering winter is here) the wax will make the snow on the plow not stick while plowing. Hope this helps a bit
Get the rust off before you paint it - and use a good quality rust-resistant paint. Preferably more than one coat. Wax the crap out of it several times, and make sure you don't have it in a warm garage just before going out to plow. The warm plow will cause the snow to freeze up on it in a BIG way. Makes it hard to plow and is hard on your hydraulic unit.....
