harmonic balancer wobble?!?

while my engine is running the harmonic balancer wobbles pretty bad, like it is bent or somthing. its not loose i took the belt off and took hold of it, it is very stable and doesnt wiggle or anything it just wobbles when the engine is running. is this bad, or normal, will it hurt anything?? and help is appreicated!

If it wobbles significantly - like 1/8" or so - I would have a mechanic look at it first, but it probably needs to be replaced. I have that issue on my Nova right now, just haven't had time to fix it so I'm not driving it. If the balancer wobbles, it creates extra stress on the crank and front main bearings in the engine = not good.

That happend to me on my 97 1500. The rubber that seperates the two parts of the balancer rotted and made it wobble to the point where it ground a slot into the timing cover and oil started leaking out! I had to replace the cover, balancer, and seal ofcourse.
