can't fit cai
 

I have a K&N drop in...want a fipk...but with my plow pump and the hydraulic lines in the way it won't fit. (at least I don't think it will)So then I thought if I removed the rubber flap next to the radiator and turned the stock intake hose towards the front it might give me some cold air or get some pvc and try to get it as close to where the rubber flap is...what do you guys think?

You might want to consider going with a 14" x 3" round filter instead of the FIPK. You won't have to worry about working around the hydraulic lines and you will get an improvement over stock. Check out these links.

The round filter is a good idea. Only problem I see is that it would be pulling alot of hot air in while plowing since you really don't get moving to fast when you plow. Or fast enough to move the hot air our from under the hood!

Still sounds like your best bet though

your proly do fine with a drop in, its hard to say cause of the above mentioned round taking hot air in, and the fipk no workey so the stock air cleaner is the coolest air you will get in, what u need to do is find out how well the crappy stock airbox flows and then maybe get a fastman.

True, I didn't think about the low speeds when plowing snow. The round is a good option for the larger percentage of time that you are running the truck though. There is one brand of CAI that pulls in air from the stock location. I can't remember who the manufacturer is, but I remember seeing pictures of it. The air filter is located in a sealed box with a plexiglass top so you can see the filter. It seemed like a decent setup and was in the same price range as the K&N FIPK.

Have you tried to get a FIPK in there. It looks like one might fit, but I can't see everything in there. I have some pictures of mine on my cardomain link in my signature and it looks like you should have room. The FIPK doesn't go down too far, so it doesn't look like you would have a problem with the lines, just maybe the pump if anything.

he always has the option to use the ram air box with a filter over the tb...

I don't know if this will help or not. But I use a FIPIK off of a 99 Dakota. The neck of the body is shorter. The filter ends right about where your pump sits. I know about the heat issue but it thought I might throw in my 2 cents
