Default fan clutch noise

HI,
I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 litre and the fan clutch is squeaking all of the sudden.
Does this mean the fan clutch is bad?
When I rotate it by hand it squeaks also.
Can I quiet it down somehow?
Thanks!
Roger

squeeking is not a good thing, if you know for sure it's the fan clutch it's probably dried up and needs to be replaced. if the bearings sieze it'll be stuck on all the time and your mileage will drop. if it breaks (remote possiblity) you could do some nasty damage.

I called my auto parts store and they have 2, a threaded on one and a pressed on one.
Any way to tell which I have without tearing the truck apart?
They also asked if it was a thermal or non thermal, what is that and I don'nt know how to tell the difference.
Thanks!

have a look at where it mounts to the water pump... if it's a nut then it's threaded... if not then... well I havent ever seen a pressed on fan clutch so IDK
