Default gutting cat?

wanting my truck a little louder,so im goin to cut the cat open an let the guts fall out of it,ok if i gut the cat will any sensors come on or will the truck not act right,need advice asap please

I did it to my truck and no sensors went off or anything. It went real smoothly, and its a lot louder too!

before i gutted mine my CE light came on, then when i gutted it...it was still on....replaced the cat...CE went off....just be aware the CE light might come on, it might not. some people get lucky

the only sensor that would be affected would be your 02. if you throw a code or have bad results you could always get one of those drone 02's that sends one signal to the pcm all the time and if you dont feel like doing that it would be a damn good reason to get a high flow cat.

Correct me if i am wrong, but the cat is where all the backpressure is located, enabling the truck to run properly? If this is true, i agree with BIGSEXY, you will loose alot of torque.

I gutted mine and lost tons of low end as well.

I then went to a magnaflow high flow cat into a 10 series flow master then dualed out and dumped right before the bumper out of harms way.

I dont even have a cat on mine, i took it right out... my exhaust is really loud with my magnaflow muffler BUT mine is only 2.5" dimeter. I didnt notice a loss of tourqe but it was also right after i put a new engine in :P . so that might have somthing to do with it. my CE light came on too so i put in a O2 simulator and that did the trick.
