new ac clutch noise
I had to replace the ac clutch and compressor this summer. ac works fine now, however it makes a sound that sounds simmilar to a turbo spooling up under acceleration and deceleration. around 2000 rpm it does not make this sound.
Sounds to me like the clutch is not shimmed right. Need to know when the noise happens. Is it when the A/C is on, and the clutch is engaged, or when the A/C is off. If it happens when A/C is running, its compressor bearings, and you don't have enough oil in the compressor. If its when its off, your clutch is not shimmed correctly. Either way, I wouldn't be running it much till you get it fixed, both problems mean your gonna be spending more money soon, [sm=icon_stickpoke.gif]
Neither, its gotta be something else. Belt noise, air leak, power steering whine, can't say for sure w/o being there, but highly doubt its the compressor. The compressor would change a noise when it is on/off. I would have to ask if you have a V-belt, or serpetine belt? A V-belt riding in the bottom of the pulley ( not being tight enough) would cause that kind of noise, but other than that you'll have to spend a little more time finding the exact cause of the noise. Hope that helps, otherwise, good luck [sm=deal.gif]
got it fixed it was a throttle body gasket.
