Default 97 RAM ISSUES

My grandgather has a 97 ram with a V8(not sure exactly which one.) He is having issues with it that seem to be some sort of electrical problem.

It will start up and run perfect one day and the next he may try to start it, and nothing, DEAD> when this happens there is not enough power to even turn the engine over. He can jump start it and it will run perfect for any length of time sometimes up to a couple of months without having any issues. And then, one day it will be dead again. He is not leaving any cargo lights or other accessories on.
Another issue that occurs at the same intervals (sparingly) is when he slows down or lets off the gas sometimes it will die, it has done it going 5mph and up to highway speed.
Not sure if it is one issue or two seperate but any help would be appreciated.

It has a new alternator, battery, and the starter checked out good. approx. 115,000 miles

any suggestions?

1. Make sure the glove compartment light is not staying on? (I know you said nothing is being left on but, you never know.

2. Are all the battery cables and grounds in good shape. My personal opinion is that Dodge Ram grounds S U C K. A bad ground any many problems can arise. A lot of the PCM's job is based on good grounds.

3. Check to make sure the PCM cable is securely attached?

I duuno, that's what pops into my head.

Good luck with your ride.

one suggestion is with a fresh battery, turn the motor off and start poping out fuses. put an ammeter across the switched ones to see if there is any current being drawn. you will need to make sure the ammeter can handle large amounts of current. if there is any current being drawn then you found a potential spot that's draining the battery.
