Default engine swap

I am looking to do an engine rebuild by myself. But I dont have the luxury or money to not have a truck while this is being done, as which I will have to do it piece by piece and will take a while. Anyways I have a 96 2500 with a 360. I found a donor motor but it comes out of a 98 1500. I know the computers are different but is there anything else? All I will be using is the block. Everything else will be new.

There shouldnt be too much else thats different, I believe that the blocks are the same, mostly the computer deals with everything else in your vehicle. So if you are only using the block, provided that its a 360 as well you should be fine.

I agree with Cally. If your donor motor is also a 360, everything should work fine. Are you swapping the intake and distributor from your current engine to the new one also? If so I can't see any issues at all. Your engine computer controls ignition, timing, fuel, and transmission shift points, but if you are swapping the electrical components of these areas from your current to new engine your old computer will work perfect.

Should work just fine. Mopar wouldn't change the block to much, no reason to really.
