02 ram 2500 5.9 gas
i just bought an 02 ram 2500 auto with only 50k mi. and have been having an issue with the rpms jumping while driving at a steady speed.but i have read alot of posts on here that say to cure that problem change my tps i havent yet to be honest this is the dealers problem they keep feeding me fuel addatives and sending me on my way.but i told them to change the tps they wont becasue theres no code.but i will do this myself.any ways my other issue is my truck sometimes drives excellant but once and a while ill be at a stop and hit the gas and the truck drags. it feels like the brakes are locked but thats not the case because if i shift into 1st gear the problem goes away. the other day it was dragging so bad i had to shift it through the gears to get it to move. but everytime i bring it back to the dealer it is fine so they send it back. any ideas. thanks for the help in advance. ps i am posting in second generation because my truck is more like the 2nd generation than the 3rd. just incase any one was wondering.
im with ya tms they just assume everyone is blind when it comes to vehicles like there the only ones that know anything about them thats why i knew my steering shaft was gone before they did and they did a supposed 69 point inspection before i took it home.? so you say no on the addatives and i assume r2 means replace the tps but how do i go about adjusting the tv cable ? thanks for your time
Here's the three pages from the 2001 FSM dealing with the TV cable ... shouldn't be any different for your truck.

Edit: I just realized that these pages are from the 42RE section ... if this won't work (if you need the 46RE section) ... lemme know.

thanks tms ill take a look at it tomorrow it seems easy enough.but this could cause all this crap going on with my truck ?? i get my haynes manual tomorrow i had to order it but this way ill be able to look into this more on my own thanks again
Yes, it can cause the problems you're experiencing. It could be something mechanically wrong but you have to eliminate bad alignments first.
Since your truck is a LATE 2nd gen, grab this manual if you can. It's for the 2001 model year but I can't imagine any major changes took place on the 3/4 tons in 2002: https://dodgeforum.com/m_340929/tm.htm (caution ... HUGE download!)
