Default Surge on cruise

Had my newly aquired '98, 5.2 Ram on a bit of a highway trip today. When I had the cruise set on 100 kms, every few minutes the RPM's would jump up about 100-200 rpm and drop back right away. Like the tranny was kicking down out of OD (this was with a stiff tail wind). On the foot it doesn't do this at all, just on cruise. Is there some sensor I need to clean or change? Thanks for any info. (new Ram driver, still learning :-)

Throttle Position Sensor needs to be replaced. Easy job, common problem.

im with the tps also. while your at your throttle body, take it off and give it a good cleaning. especially at the iac.

Yes. Change the TPS. About $35 at most parts stores. Here is a link to a site with many tips and instructions on TB cleaning, etc also.....

this is interesting, usually autozone is cheaper...
