Default Have a question bout the blower motor

i have a 97 Ram and the blower motor quit working on me. I opened up the fuse panel and the fuse was halfmelted. I know a short to ground, or over loaded circuit will cause this, but was wonderin if anybody has had this problem before?

What is "half melted"? The fuse is good or it's not. What happens when you replaced the fuse. Did the new one blow right away?

Good luck with your ride.

If the fuse blows a few hours after running, my guess would be that the motor bearings have dried up. The motor is heating up because of the lack of oil perhaps. A short would pop the fuse immediately. Check to see if the motor gets blistering hot or stays reasonably cool. The motor can be disassembled and lubed.

That's the only thing I can think of that would make the fuse get that hot. As the motor heats up, the amp draw also increases. I would imagine the resistor next to the fan is getting ready to crap out as well.

Good luck with your ride.
