Default Trans Additive Mistake?

Just realised the transmission fluid additive I put in last week was not from Mopar or specifically for Rams, so is there a problem coming my way as a result? It was in Walmarts and just remember it was for V8s with over 75,ooo miles. Thanks.

If you use ATF +4 you shouldnt need additive, only one i think that is recommended is something called TransX, keeps seals soft and valves lubricated.

your 98 originally used ATF 3+, which has been replaced by ATF 4+. In general, and don't start flaming me, ram transmissions are a little weak and fail sooner than their owners want them to. The most common cause is lack of service (fluid and filter), heat, and towing. service is recommended every 12-24 thousand miles. If yours hasn't had recent service, it would benefit from that much more than any additive. If you have had recent service, i doubt that the additive will hurt you any.

here are some good instructions.

i put in the drain plug and placed it near the right rear corner of the pan. it really makes it easier the next time around because you can dump all that weight and then easily drop the pan. dropping it for the first time i put my floor jack under it so i could get all the bolts out and then ease it down.

It may have been the TransX brand and it has been 10,000 miles since changing the fluid so soon I'll have it done again. Thank you.
