Default Heat in OD?

This kinda worries me a bit, my truck usually runs about 200*F but when i'm on the highway and it locks up it goes up to 220*F-230*F it's a noticalble increase on the needle and the heat coming out of the heater.

Runs funny how?

My guess would be if your truck has a hard time pushing the truck in OD w/lockup, then maybe you need a tune up? Is your coolant in good condition? Any additives? Your thermostat could be getting tired, and taking a little longer to open.

Let us know what you find.

Good luck with your ride.

Well i had everybody tell me this was normal, but when it hits about 45 under mild accel, the TC will lock and it will really struggle to accelerate at all unless i gun it up past 55. It's right about that point that the heat will start to rise up too.

Ok, so you're saying that the truck only gets warm when you accerlerate, and the tranny is in 4th gear AND locked up. The truck getting warm under that circumstance is normal. It takes all the horsepower you're making to over drive the truck. The engine is working much harder, plus there is unburned fuel. Fuel is heat in any motor.

It's the equivelant of a diesel engine "lugging" up a hill. You see black pourin out the pipe. Only on a gas, you have a cat that will burn off what the motor can't........

If it's a short period, and it returns to normal, then my guess is nothing is wrong. And you may need some sort of tune up. How long since last? You know what I mean.....it's a guessing game..LOL.

When the truck lugs like that, tap the break pedal to unlock the tc, and press the gas down moderately. Make the truck accelerate during the fluid drive part of the tc function.

Good luck with your ride.
