Default need some help please..

ok well i have a 98 ram sport 4x4 with the 360. the other day i was doing a little bit of muddin down in a retention pond and well...now my truck is acting kinda wierd, mainly it sounds like a deisel now. on idel it sounds normal but around 1500 to 2000 rpms there is a very noticles whisle/whine that gets louder with the rpms...like i said it sounds like the turbo on a desiel. also...my ive been watching my oil pressure gauge, and i notice that when im acceleration the oil pressure will rise considerably from when idling.on idle or rpms under about 1200 it will be 30-40 psi...then when i acclerate or go above about 1300-1400 rpms it will rise to about 70psi...its a quick jump to...you can clearly see the needle move.
any help, suggestions, or advice yall may have would be greatly appriciated.

this is also my first post on the web site, ive never really been into dodge until i got my truck about 2 weeks ago...i previously owned a 97 mustang cobra with full bolt ons that was unfortunatly totaled. [:@]

If it started whistling right after you were muddin, you may have just knocked your intake loose. It's held on to the throttle body by a big hose clamp which can work itself loose pretty easily. Also, make sure you didn't suck anything into the intake itself that could be causing an obstruction. Check for any other loose vacuum connections. Just a couple suggestions to get you started. As for the oil pressure thing, that's normal, you may just have never noticed it before. As the engine speeds up so does the oil pump, and the oil pressure increases. Nothin to worry about.

lol yeah...trust me man, im more then educated on how an engine works...i pretty much built my 97 cobra myself and those are not easy cars to work on. i was thinking maybe i had crimped or pinched off something iunno i didnt notice the radical jump in oil pressure before but maybe i wasnt looking all so hard.

sorry if i sound disrepectful, im not meaning to be.

I've actually had that same problem twice after some hard mud boggin sessions. Sounds just like a supercharger whinin. It's probably your tensioner (idler) pulley. It gets dirt and mud up in the bearings of an unsealed pulley and makes that high pitched whine that increases with engine rpm. I'd go to Auto Zone and get a new tensioner pulley. It's pretty cheap and I put mine on in about 15 minutes.

And that oil pressure thing? Every dodge I've ever been in (4.7, 5.2, 5.7, 5.9) have all done that. My Jeep does it too.

The oil pressure gauge in my 01 Ram with the new engine does the same exact thing. idles around 35 and when driving goes up around 70+. I can watch it climb as I accelerate.
