You may think I'm crazy but whenever I get out of my truck I make it a habit to point my key at the truck like it's an anti theft device and make a really loud chirp/squawk sound. I do that a couple times like an anti theft device would and it must be working because I havn't had anything ripped off yet.
You're right......I do think you are crazy! [sm=insomnia.gif]

Well in the winter I drop the snowplow on the ground and take out the control. Like to see how far they get pushin that thing down the road.
In the summer I just park in lit areas at might and during the day my trucks in the garage. I guess I have the same feeling . If they want something bad enough they're gonna take it . My dad always said locks are for honest people. They're just there to slow the crook up.

on an older truck I had, I removed the shunt that was in the wiring harness for a clutch switch, wired directly into it and ran a heavy duty switch under the seat to a spot that was not obvious. Press the button, turn the key, once started release button... worked awesome and no-one ever knew it was there...

Iuse a Viper and keep my insuranec paid. On one of my other cars I installed a relay that powered a blinking alarm indicator light whenever the car was turned off. Everyone thought I had an alarm. The second thing I did was get a sticker that said the car had a tracking system. Until then my door lock was broken 3 times in five weeks. Those things worked until I sold it.

On a side note. A local man was awakened by his car alarm. When he looked out of his windows he saw a tow truck hooking up is SUV. He dialed 911 and told the operator his car was being stolen by a tow truck. The 911 operator told him he musthave missed a payment and he should call back in two hours. So he and his wifegot in their other car and followed the tow truck. When thetow truck stopped he went up to the tow truck and asked him why his car was being towedand the tow truck operator shot him dead and drove off. They never found the tow truck or the car. His wife was left standing in the street crying at 2am and the 911 operator got a 4 day suspension.

It is only a truck.

I have a steering wheel lock, an alarm set on hyper paranoid, and an insane desire to shoot anyone messing with my ride. I'd go into details, but you can figure that out yourself.Long term, I remove the fuel pump relay.
My truck has been peeled once, to the tune of 800.00 in damage, but I learned my lesson.Insurance doesn't cover your entire loss unless you have gap coverage.
