Default Throttle Body Spacer

Would installing a throttle body spacer improve gas mileage and overall performace? What exactly would I gain from installing one?

Since you're putting fuel in after the throttle body, you're basically extending the length the air has to travel to get in to your engine. The idea, I believe, is to add it in below a carb or throttle body with injectors so the air/fuel mixture has a better chance to mix instead of spraying fuel into the bottom of your intake. Another idea is to change the flow of the air like that Tornado thing. Kind of like when you put those little plugs in a 2-liter bottle and you can drain it faster as the water swirls out. But, you're dumping into the runners so it's kind of after the bottle's neck so to speak. There's two schools of thought on air flow too. Make it smooth and direct or cause some turbulance to get a better mixture. I wouldn't think with modern fuel injection that mixture would be too much a problem but air flow is just like water flow and causing turbulance or harsh bends in the flow is always a bad thing. In short... no, I haven't used one.
