Sweet Storm Stories
Due to all the snow with the last blizzard and this new storm that hit us, I've been having all kinds of fun pulling people out of snow banks. Last Saturday, I pulled out a Fed-Ex truck from around the corner from the house. Took a few tugs but we got it out. Now, on the way home from driving some emergency personnel home, I saw a white Ram pull a city bus out of a stuck spot.
Oh and, neither have a hemi.

I'm guessing you live in Colorado, cause so do I, and it has been a blast. I have never used my tow strap so much, or probably even 4x4 for that matter. I have been really impressed with how well the BFG All Terrains are doing in the deep stuff. This is the most snow they have seen since I had them put on.
I went down to the in-laws ranch after the last blizzard last week, and they called on me to do some of the heavy off-road and snow busting because both of their ranch work trucks were disabled. One '99 Ram 2500 had the trans go out (go figure), and the other '99 2500 whouldn't go into 4x4 (i'm thinking vacuum leak). The only other 4x4 truck they had was the '05 Ram 2500, but it was in the garage were we were also cutting up a beef, so we didn't want to open the garage door to back it out while we had the quarters hanging. We had to go check cows in a remote pasture though, so we took my truck. I came across the road grater, and he told me he hadn't been on the 3 mile stretch of road we needed to go on. We went anyway, and it was unbelievable. We were plowing through drifts higher then my bumper. There were few areas that had less then 2ft of standing snow, so it was pretty much full throttle the whole way just to keep moving. My biggest concern was getting high centered, but luckily the snow was still new and fluffy, so it wasn't heavy enough to lift up the truck. The truck ran like a champ though, I was very pleased. The only thing that was bad was that back when I had a FIPK, I had removed the panel on the passenger side of the radiator to let more air come in on the filter. I never put it back, and I had a lot of snow get pushed into the engine bay as I was pushing drifts. Still, none of it reached my new air filter setup. I love off-roading in deep snow though. Makes me think I might like mud too, but i've never really been in deep mud.

ive never been in deep snow. go find a deep mud hole and tell me if its similar haha.
sounds like fun, both of yalls stories.
If I can ever find some decent mud, i'll give it a try. Problem is, Colorado has been in a drought for about 10 years now. Heavy amounts of rain or snow have been rare. This snow we have gotten this month is more like what I remember when I was a kid. I can recall drifts in our yard as high as 5-6 ft. I remeber one storm when the school bus got stuck in a drift that was higher then the top of the bus. Funny thing is, I drove a Mustang back then when I was in high school. Wish I had had a 4x4 instead. I hope we return to this level of winter snow in the coming years though. We need the moisture, and it is a blast to drive in (unless you get stranded).
Yep, I'm in Englewood.
I've been in mud and it's not as fun as deep snow. Snow melts when you're done.
For this winter I'm running my old ProComp A/Ts that have 40k miles on them. I noticed now they come with a 50k mile warranty but mine didn't. They are worn out and cut up but still do pretty good.
SilverDodge, you should look into FEAT. It's a volunteer org to run emergency personnel to work.

Ya, i'll have to check that out. I've been helping people just in my own neighborhood all day. Might as well help someone who needs to be out because they are emergency personel, instead of all these jackasses who think they need to be out fo rno good reason.
