Truck Ramdomly Dies and Hard to Restart
Hi all. Just found this forum so I'm hoping you can help me out cuz I'm not much of a mechanic.
I have a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 360 V8. Last week it started dying ramdomly while driving. First couple of times it would be when you would reverse out of the driveway and then in the time it took to switch between reverse and drive it would die. Pretty much started right up after that. But 2 days ago it died on me coming to the bottom of a hill that I stopped at to look for traffic and then take off. It died and was VERY hard to get started again. Thought the battery would die. But eventually got it started and it ran rough for a few minutes and could smell gas pretty good.
Yesterday I went to pick up my son, and it drove fine there. Was there for a few minutes and got back in and it wouldnt start up. Again, cranked it over alot until I thought the battery was going to die. Eventually after pumping the gas alot it started and smelled of strong gas again. First thing that comes to mind is fuel pump? Its been replaced once already about 2 years ago. Any comments or suggestions is definitely appreciated.

I would look at the vacuum hoses and check valves. Use a gauge to make sure proper vacuum is being achieved. I have a 95' CTD and my vacumm hoses were GARBAGE after 8 years.
And how is your fuel filter?
Just my 2 cents....lol.
Good luck with your ride
