Default Torque Specification

Just replaced the oil pan gasket in my truck and my friend said I need totorque the bolts up to200 (in-lbs) [sm=smiley25.gif]WOW!!! Does anybody knows for surethe Torque Specifications (in-lbs)for the oil pan bolts/studs on a 1998 Ram 1500 V8 (5.2L) in order to prevent oil leaks? Is my friend correct about the torque specification?

Make sure your torque wrench reads inch pounds not foot pounds. Of course you'd figure that out after you twisted the first bolt off.

That's a good point, thanks! You can alsomake the conversion.....1FT-LB = 12 IN-LB
