Default vibration?

ive started to notice a slight vibration during take off in my 98 ram 1500 4x4..it only "vibrates" after driving a good distance at higher speeds 60-70mph and only does it when i get back into stop and go traffic...runs fine down the highway, shift fine and nothing out of the ordinary but once i get back into town and stop and take off it vibrates for a second or 2 until i get going,it felt likeit was coming from the front end,but it did it last night an di opened my door and stuck my head out when i took off to get a better listen and it sounded liek ti was coming from somewhere in the rear. i can drive all day in town and have no problems but once i drive it on the high way for a bit itll start doing it...like i said there is no shifting problems or braking problems that are noticable...do yall think it could possibly a bearing somewhere or maybe brakes grabbing? i wa shaving a leak problem in my transfer case but it magicly stopped? would a problem with the transfer case cause a vibration or grind when taking off?...so far no major problems that keep me from driving it its just annoying and im afraid that vibration wil llead to a bigger problem. any help will be appricated..thanks

Default RE: vibration?

if your going strait from a stop, it should be the rear u-joint. if it is more when you take off while turning it could be the rear posi unit chattering.

check drive shaft ujoints with park brake on/wheels chocked (don't get run over), trans in neutral, this should create no pressure on drive shaft, inspect ujoint seals and try to wiggle shaft, if you have then - use big channel locks to wiggle shaft, any play at all is bad. same with front shaft.

don't put it off - mine went from 'a little play' squeak/vibration to 'about ready to fall out', in only 2 days, in fact all the needle bearings fell completely out. then it vibrated a LOT.
