Intake plenum gasket or valve covers
Hi everyone.
I was wondering if anyone else who has changed the intake plenum gasket noticed this as well. I had the typical symptoms of an intake plenum gasket leak. I had pooling in the rear of the manifold, using 1 quart of oil for every 1000 miles I drove...the usual. So, I bought my hughes kit and changed everything. When I went to clean my plenum out, I noticed that the old gasket still looked like it had a good seal. What I did find was a nice tell-tale sign of oil seeping from the PCV port. When I noticed this, I made a PCV change as well. The truck has been running much better since I made these changes. No more oil loss, or pooling.
I am wondering if all I needed was a PCV in the first place. I'd checked the old one many times before and it still rattled, so I thought it was fine. Maybe I should invest in some aftermarket valve covers with better baffles.
Has anyone else noticed this with their plenum gasket change? Any thoughts would be helpful. Thank you.
