C9.25 - How do I know it has ABS?
Alright, I'm sure I could search and find the info I need, but I'm kinda in a time crunch so I'm going to ask anyway. I'm looking for a LSD for my 98 1500 w/ the C9.25. I'm thinking if I find a carrier with all the parts for the C9.25 it should work right? But I also know that the carriers changed in like 84 or something like that to accomodate ABS. How can I tell if a used one has those provisions or not? What would happen if I got one w/o it?
TIA!
TIA!
You could probably find it in the service manual. All it is is a ring a little bigger than thering gear, that has a bunch of teeth cut in it. The ABS sensor is a magnent, and it reads the on/off pulse of the teeth passing by.
There's more to it than that, guys. If there's no exciter (tone) ring, the speedometer and odometer won't work either. 1998 and up used the RWSS both to determine vehicle speed and when to activate the RWAL. Here's an exploded view of the Corp 9.25" axle (#44 is the tone ring).
