Default Transmission Problems

Hi I'm new here and I've been having problems withy my 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 transmission. Just recently I decided to change out the fluid and transmission filter in my dodge just for regular maintainance but now I'm having some problems. The transmission is not shifting into the other gears as I accelerate. Like I said before I had no problems at all before but now after the new fluid and filter this has started up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

did you have the bands adjusted? if not all the bands are adjusted properly it will cause it to shift improperly

Default RE: Transmission Problems

A really good friend of mine told me about problems like this. He has a shop and does a lot of work on trucks. He said he has seen many times where people wanted the transmission fluid changed but they have not done it on regular basis or just bought the truck and previous owner(s) did not do the basic maintence. He told me about one time where he tried to tell the guy this would probably happen, but the guy wanted it done anyway. Well he changed the fluid and filter and it just would not hardly shift or pull. It was full of fluid too. So what did he do? He drained some of the fluid, put in some of the old fluid and after it circulated a bit it shifted like normal.

Now I am not saying this is what you need to do, but it worked for him. You may want to try some trans treatment in it. Just a thought. Good luck with it.
