Howdy,
I decoded the VIN on my truck the other day and according to that my truck is equipped with the 360HD. I'm assuming that means heavy duty. If so, what makes it more heavy duty than any other 5.9?

im curious on how you came up with the HD part..

The only differance I know is the HD 5.9L that comes in the 3500 has an air pump. The internals are all the same.

 

The HD version had:
air pump driven off the engine,
twin catalytic converters (better flow)
bigger muffler,
made its torque peak at 2800 rpm rather than 3200 rpm.

 

Thanks for the info. Turns out I was a digit off anyway. Just a regular old 360 in the Ram afterall. Checked again because the exhaust is factory and it only has one cat on it. Thanks again!

lol my muffler was soooo f'n huge when i took it off, such a waste

 

My friends 360 LD had 318 heads on it, we dont know if it was a previous owner that did it, but when we were checking specs on the valves, all the specs on the heads were from the 318, idk if thats a difference in alot of them but...
