98' Ram 1500 318 Sputtering Issue
Last week i had my plenum gasket replaced, I get my truck back and everything works great. I have probably driven approximately 200 miles since the repair, and now i am developing a sputter when trying to accelerate (especially when driving in lower RPMs 1000-1800). When i drive the truck cold, it runs perfectly fine with no sputtering issues at all. The longer i drive it, the worse it gets. Once it is warmed up it starts to sputter when the truck is idling. Again, when the vehicle is cold i have no problems.
Last night the check engine light came on, from doing research I believe i cannot check the CEL code without taking it too a shop(b/c its a 98'), please confirm that. I am going to get the CEL code checked out, and i am assuming that is the problem. I am looking for any advice so I can decide if it is someting i can fix myself, or i have to pay a mechanic. ... Thanks a lot

Have you ever noticed that slight stumble right off idle when you mash the pedal to the floor? Here's an easy fix for the sluggish response of the throttle (which is related to the TPS Sensor).
i'm not saying that its definately your o2. but they'll check it for ya. they can be kinda hard to change sometimes because they'll rust into the exhuast pipe. if it is your problem, get some penetrating fluid, some antiseize, and a new o2. spray the penetraating fluid on there and let it sit for a while and go at it with a wrench. when it comes out you put antiseize on the new o2 threads so that it isnt so hard to get it off next time. people say that you can spraythe old one with fuel injector cleaner to clean it off, but if its shot im not sure thats the best route to take.
take the first step and get the code read... take it from there.
