Oil PSI?

What should my oil psi be at idle? crusing?

Mine at idle is 40 psi. Driving is just a tad above 40 psi

Mine stays a complete needle's width past the 40 mark, but I run Synthetic motor oils and it gets changed regularly.
Actually, it currently has Kendall's synthetic blend in it, 10w-30 grade.

Safe to say thou, 40+

Tad over 40 stock, 44-45 if I remember correct with h/v pump (stored for winter if it ever comes?)

k, well i remember when i first got the truck it was idleing at 40, and pritty much staying at 40 all the time (so i remember, though i may be wrong) now it idles at the first bar and quickly jumps to 40-43/4 ish at driving. crusin is 40psi. sound about right?

im guessing my oil pump may be dieing then. Whill the oil pump slowly degrade over time, rather than suddenly die?

40 is a very good number, now if it drops to like 10-20 I would be a little worried, of course you will probably see higher pressure the newer your oil is, as it gets older and thinner it doesnt keep pressure as well. Also If your going by just the dash guage, it could be off some, maybe hooking up an actual oil pressure guage will tell a different number

Not to Hijack the thread,But what wieght Rotella do you use?I use the 15-40w in my Wrecker now.I was highly considering using it in the dodge.I use standard oil in it now and 1 quart of lucas.My pressure is great.But I think I could benefit from Rotella.

wow.. i'm using royal purple right now (long story well sorta but cool at the same time) 10-30w and it's cruising at about50 and idling at 35. it used to idle at 40 and cruise at 50 with the napa synthetic.
