Here's sum info on the 2500HD
Did some work on another 4x4 2500 this weekend .
Got some prices and some observations for u guys.
1IN11/16 is the socket size for the DANA 60 for the center nut. I forgot to write down the size of the 4 bolts that hold the hub to spindle. The rear axle was aDANA 60 which requires a special socket to get a lock nut out of the center to change seal and inspect the baring. We used a 4x4 hub socket for Ford w/ automatic hubs . The size was alittle off ,but we opened up al little w/ a dremel.
The wheel baring hub assembly seems to rust very badly takes a lot of force and penatrating fluid to
remove the rotor and hub unit. Suggesta small amount of anti-seeze on back of thehub flange to the spindle . Don't go crazy w/ it !!Also the rotordust shields on these trucks seem to rust out quickly in this area too.
I know this may vary where u live and availablitybut here's sum prices and parts. I know we could have found better deals on some stuff , but we had to get this truck back together.
Front rotor- 44.00 a piece
Front brake pads- 45.00 a set
Front dust shields -23.00 a piece
Front caliper- 32.00 a piece
Wheel hub bearing assembly- 227.00 a piece.
Rear brake shoes- 43.00. a set
Rear hub seal- 4.25 a piece.
A day w/ your dad and uncle in the garage w/ beer -Priceless
Quick Question for ya...Im working on changing the wheel hub n bearing on a 96 2500 dana 60. i can only find non ABS hub units. The truck has front abs, are the hubs a different size? cuz the abs sender and ring mount to the knuckle and axle stub shaft.
