Default long time no tune up/the real reason i bought the truck

i bought my truck used and when i buy a car/truck used i change the oil and give it a tune up, even if it comes form a dealer. i finally changed the plugs today and i should have done it sooner but shame on me. the plugs looked as it the ends where filed down the gap was way more then the 40 required. i am suprised the truck ran as well as it did, then i decided to check the cap and button, check out the......how in the hell..........posting i had put up. the cap and button were just as bad so the tune up was well needed.

2001 1500 club cab 4x4 5.2 automatic silver

i plan on useing the truck as a work truck and plan on hualing the limit or even exceding the limit of the 1/2ton. i bought the LT load rated "E" tires and plan on adding 2 leafs to each side. i checked around onthe net and found the wheel bearings are the same as a 2500, i hope that is right, any thought? should i change anything else? i know i should have bought a 2500 or 3500 but my money and credit wouldn't allow that so ihave a 1500.

nowmy check engine light is on again, P1740the truck would go out ofO/D then back into it. the non-dodge dealer ship changed the valve body plate last thursday, nowthe trans slips going from 1st to 2nd and getting worse. at a low speed i have to down shift from D to2 to get into a passing gear, and sometimes it acts as if i amgiving it to much gas and not enough clutch....Hens "slipping". the dealers mechanic is willing to change the tcc solenoid and the govoner solenoid, after an ok from the dealership owner. the mechanic seems trust worthy and knows what he is doing and so does all the other mechenics. this forum has had the problems and experiances so i trust you men too.

any thoughts?????

Don't know what you used for plugs I found that champion truck plugs work really well. As for the rear end the 9.25 rear was actually used in all three platforms 1500,2500, and 3500. the 3/4 and 1 ton got different axles but all used the same housings. I have a 1500 Quadcab Longbox and use it as a daily driver during the week andI abuse the hell out of it building houses on the weekend. took it to the landfill the other day and got introuble for weighing in at 8300 lbs. the truck empty well with my fatbut weighs 6200 lbs. I couldn't even tell I had over a ton of trash in the bed.
As for the tranny issue it sounds like youron the right track from everything else I've read. Me I'm Lucky I have over 150,000 miles on the truck and haven't toched the tranny. Drive It Like You Stole It!
